In 2016, from 15th August – 1st October, I was selected to participate in the Artist-in-Residence program at Guldagergaard International Ceramic Research Centre in Denmark, for ‘The Alice in Wonderland’ Symposia. During these two months of residency, I created a series of works related to that theme. The entire stay was for me a great experience and an eye opener to be able to work together with such an international group of talented artists from different parts of the world. The centre, with a beautiful gallery and surrounded by a sculpture park, has many sculptures made by visiting artists. This place is a true gem for ceramics art lovers.

When I was a little girl my favourite storybook was by Hans Christian Andersen. For me it was so magical and full of imagination and I often wondered what his surroundings would be like to be inspired to become one of the best-loved authors. Fortunately I was able to take a short break to experience the rich intellectual and artistic heritage of the country, to enjoy the many museums, art galleries and to go for walks around in the city. There is so much to experience. Although I must admit I am not a big fan of funfairs and theme parks, the more than 150-year-old Tivoli Gardens Amusement Park built-in 1843 (19th century) was truly magical!! It is like you are walking right back into history, into Hans Christian Andersen fairy tales. This fantasy has inspired me so much!!
